This fringe does not exceed a width of 1/8 inch. It was cut by hand with a pair of leather scissors. It has no dividers or interior pockets.Just one big open space big. I guarantee you it is a real head-turner. People will stop you and ask, What is that? What kind of fur is that? My daughter, a Hollywood TV Producer wears my creations all the time and she is constantly being complimented. The 3/4 thick brown strap has been left extra-long to accommodate larger people, which make up about 40% of the population. So the strap may be too long for you if you are average size. The photos show my daughter who is 5'4 and weighs about 115 pounds. She has the strap adjusted to the shortest length. You can always shorten a strap, but there is no way to make it longer, so if it is too long for you then you will simply need to cut it down a bit.
I can offer advice on the procedure, if it is needed. The strap has been finished off with a very fancy, shiny silver buckle that the ladies will enjoy. Please read the following information to understand how the bag was designed and constructed. Most animal furs can be used, but very few furs are strong enough to carry a load without breaking a stitch, so I completely leather line every piece of fur to make it strong. I then use a tiny punch and mallet to punch a hole every 1/8-3/16 in the leather.
I then run artificial sinew through the hide and then again a second time, through the same hole to lock each and every stitch. This is slow work and tedious work that is terribly hard on your hand, causing cuts and cracks and sore fingers. That is why many craftsmen use a leather sewing machine rather than doing hand work. I try to use the head portion of the skin or another nice piece of fur to make the flap.
I then hand cut a strap, install a buckle and affix the strap to the bag with brass rivets. I then use a hand-made, Indian beaded rosette, created by my friend, "Runnin-Dog" and affix it to the flap for decoration.
Or I might use an animal jawbone for decoration and top it off with some nice looking glass and metal trade beads. The process is long and tiring and difficult, so my bags are priced accordingly. You are paying for a one of a kind, completely hand-made piece of history.
You won't find a better product anywhere! This bag will last you a lifetime! For many years I was involved in the Royal Ranger Frontiersman Camping Fraternity. We came together at Rendezvous and lived the life of the mountain man, endeavoring to replicate everything pre-1840, living in tipi's and starting fires with flint and steel.
The mountain man "Possible Pouch" was used to carry any and everything possible. The bags listed in the Beaver Tooth Trading Post are patterned after the possible pouch of the mountain man. Everything was done by hand, one stitch at a time using animal furs and various leathers.
Each of these bags were designed and hand constructed. Each individual bag takes between 8-10 hours of tedious work.
You are purchasing a one of a kind, unique and historically correct Possible Pouch made by someone who poured tons of love into each creation.
